IP Address Lookup
Get detailed information about IPv4 and IPv6 addresses including location, ISP, and registry data.
How IP Lookup Works
What is IP Lookup?
IP Lookup retrieves detailed information about an IP address, including its geographic location, network provider (ISP), and registry allocation data.
Every device connected to the internet has a unique IP address. This tool queries multiple databases to build a comprehensive profile of who owns an address and where it is located.
How to Use
- Enter any IPv4 or IPv6 address to look up its geolocation, ISP, and network data.
- Use My IP to instantly look up your own public IP address.
- Use IPv6 to browse and select example IPv6 addresses (Google DNS, Cloudflare, link-local, etc.).
- Switch between MaxMind, DB-IP, and IP2Location tabs to compare geolocation results from independent databases.
- Optionally load Google Maps to see the location visually (requires consent).
Data Sources
| MaxMind | GeoIP database with city-level accuracy for most IPs |
| DB-IP | Alternative geolocation source for cross-referencing |
| IP2Location | Third independent database to compare against |
| BGP | Live routing data showing ASN, prefix, and network path |
| Registry | WHOIS data from RIRs (ARIN, RIPE, APNIC, etc.) |
IPv4 vs IPv6
IPv432-bit addresses (e.g. 8.8.8.8). Most established geolocation data with city-level precision.
IPv6128-bit addresses (e.g. 2001:4860::8888). Geolocation may be less precise due to newer allocation patterns.
SpecialPrivate (10.x, 192.168.x), loopback (127.x, ::1), and reserved ranges are not publicly routable and cannot be geolocated.
Important Notes
- Geolocation data provides approximate location and may not be 100% accurate. VPNs, proxies, and CDNs can affect results.
- Location results are compared across three independent databases. Discrepancies between sources are common.
- BGP routing data is fetched live and may take a moment longer to load.
- Google Maps integration is optional and requires your explicit consent before loading.
Privacy & Security: IP lookups run server-side. Third-party APIs only see this server's request, not your IP address or identity. Map loading is optional and requires consent.

Accuracy Notice: IP geolocation data provides approximate location information and may not be 100% accurate. IPv6 geolocation can be less precise than IPv4 due to different allocation patterns.
